all sampleOSCs can load Akai (.s), Wave (.wav) or AudioInterchangeFileFormat (.aiff) audio files. Loops are supported - best way to create a loop is with one of the stsx000 samplers. Stereo files: only the left channel is played back.
most convenient way to load waves is to let it drop from a file browser like Windows Explorer directly into the sampleOsc module..

Connecting Gate, Note and SampleFreq is essential, otherwise there is a risk of system crash..
Bugs:
There are versions of the SampleOsc which cannot handle presets, i.e. sample files are not exchanged/updated via presets.
A good version is dated from 2001/08/23.

sDrumOSC:
Has a preset list of its own and has no problems with the Modular shell preset list.
Can be triggered by Midi or Gate.
If triggered by Gate, loudness is determined by the FVel control, if triggered by Midi, the effect of velocity on loudness can be adjusted by the Vel control.

SamplePool

SamplePool:
it’s always a good idea to have everything “packed” when a Modular patch contains a sample module.
Despite the fact that the filesize of a patch  containing a sample module grows according to the size of the sample loaded, that sample is not saved within the patch. The module will show a message like this sampleOscError   if this sample had been removed, renamed etc.
The Sample Pool contains the actual wave files, so everything is packed safely.
Downside: filesize of the patch will increase accordingly.
